Jean Dawson – Blitz

Jean Dawson delivers “Blitz” for the soundtrack of Justin Tipping’s horror film “Him.” The track pairs Dawson’s rap with production from Bobby Krlic (the Haxan Cloak), who also composed the film’s score.

Krlic brings his signature gothic touch with spooky violins and synth booms that match the film’s horror elements. Dawson keeps the football theme alive with references to throwing Hail Marys while calling the song “the sound of adrenaline.” It’s a fitting description for a track that needs to work both as stadium-ready rap and horror movie atmosphere.

Dawson went to film school originally wanting to score his movies, so getting called to contribute to “Him” felt like a natural fit. “I don’t keep score, I keep scoring,” he says, referencing a line from his past work that captures the competitive spirit running through both football and filmmaking.
